Food Truck Invasion in the OC – OC Foodie Fest

You know we are very big fans of gourmet food trucks. Big cities like Los Angeles and New York have tons of options and the list of new food trucks grows daily. Orange County is still figuring this whole food truck thing out. There are about 10 trucks and a number of those have started going outside the Orange curtain to attract business. I am not surprised considering everyday I talk to people that still don’t know that gourmet food trucks even exist or where they can be found in the OC. And then, there are the “food snobs” that can’t possibly imagine eating food out of a mobile truck. We all know some of these folks. It is really too bad that they are letting their pre-conceived notions about food trucks make them miss out on this new dining experience, not too mention the exceptional food!

This is why we are so excited about the upcoming OC Foodie Fest, on August 28, at the Honda Center in Anaheim. There will be 50 of the best food trucks in Southern California rolling in to the OC. This includes OC trucks along with trucks from LA. Here is a complete list of food trucks. In addition to the gourmet food truck eats, there will be local bands, DJs and dance crews entertaining the crowd as well as vendors selling crafts and other wares. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit local charities Child S.HA.R.E., Pretend City Children’s Museum and Cart for a Cause Benefitting St. Vincent Meals on Wheels

Good Crowd at the First Preview Event

However, the main event is not the only way to experience the food trucks! The organizers of the OC Foodie Fest are hosting a series of preview events to help spread the word and give people a taste of what is ahead. The first of these previews was last Saturday night in Downtown Santa Ana. There were six trucks along with Tequila tasting at the Proof Bar, sponsored by Azunia Tequila.
Crepes Bonaparte, The Taco Dawg, Morsels Baking Company, Tropical Shave Ice, Dos Chinos, and Calbi.

  1. This was a really cool event. I'm happy to hear that there will be more. I actually think this is the way food trucks will continue to do business.
